A Moment In Time

Our wedding was a whirlwind of events.

So many hours planning ahead of time. Days and weeks and so many decisions that seem so important. Colors, flowers, seating plan, songs, cake, dress fittings.

So many hands primping and pulling... buttoning and dabbing. So many smiles and hugs. Meeting people you don't even know, and thanking them for taking the time to celebrate this life changing moment with you.

It all happened so fast! All that time planning and the main event lasts only a few hours.

I can't remember conversations had, I can't remember what food was served, I can't remember what the cake tasted like. It just all happens so fast. I can't even remember who caught my bouquet.

I know it might seem weird. I know there are women who remember ever single detail. Good for them. Whatever.

One of the moments I remember most vividly... other than the big things like my Daddy walking down the isle, holding me close and kissing my check, you know big things... and other than smiling the entire time and crying the entire time... which was in every picture... everyone smiling AND crying at the same time. OTHER then those, one of the moments I remember most vividly is the hug my Poppie gave me.

The great big giant hug with his great big giant smile... and him saying "I am happy for you kiddo. I am truly happy."

That is what I remember.

And it's not because I am feeling nostalgic for memories of the Late and Great Poppie...

Of all the moments that took place that day, that is the one that is triggered as a memory. It wasn't caught on film or camera. No one else was there. We didn't have to re create it for the camera or make a scene for everyone else to "gah" at.

Just a moment in time with my Poppie and I.
